Chladni Sound Vibration Necktie, microfiber tie. Kaleidoscopic slice of a 1621 hertz vibration experiment. Recorded from our painting visualization on a steel plate, from our own handmade vibration machine! These “Chladni Figures,” are named for musician and physicist Ernst Chladni who in 1787, first ran a violin bow across a brass plate lightly covered in sand and pictorially recorded the waveforms that appeared. Shorb’s experiment has been photographed and burned to screen for the world’s first Chladni necktie!

This print extends very high up on the tie, approx. 18″ (58cm) from the bottom point – perfect to be seen from under a vest or jacket.
